In 1827, a man called Edwin Budding from Gloucestershire England invented the very first cylinder lawn mower.

The best ones originally were built by a company called victa about 1952 as these were much lighter and easier to use than any previous rotary lawn mowers.

Since those old days of the push mowers we really have come a long way, in particular since the launch of the electrical mower, there are even cordless mowers these days.

Of course, there is a mower specifically designed for every type of lawn and person these days, from an easy to handle hover mower with spinning blades, either plastic or steel, that can be easily replaced to the ultimate “Dads got to have one” sit on lawn mower, you would look a little silly with a small lawn however.

The range is huge so it’s best to have a look round and try and get some advise if you can, although they are very cheap to buy, its best to get it right first time, you don’t want to be buying a petrol mower if you have a small lawn, on the other hand, you don’t want a hover mower if your lawn is the size of a football pitch.

There are various lawn mower clubs around the World with events such as racing lawn mowers and they even customize them out of all recognition sometimes.

Some people still believe the best mowers are the old push mowers, every once in a while you would have the blades sharpened and off you would go again, it’s just personal choice, and the choice is huge.
